shhh.. dont tell.... I Am An ... ADDICTTT =X

I am an official addict. Ever since i grabbed this book i have not stopped reading.. of course until i began writing this blog. =) This book is approximately 500 pages and i cant wait to find out its ending. As i entered Barnes and Noble i was on a quest to find a book that i would fall in love with. Then we met eye to eye.. or in this case eye to cover. I had several flashbacks and remembered several times in which i had heard about how great this series by Stephanie Meyer was amazing. As i thought about whether i should buy the book or not.. my friend walked over and excitedly told me that i should definetely get the book. I have had a few days reading the book and i am already hooked. It is about a girl named Bella who has just moved in with her father. She is now in love with a beautiful young gentleman.. yet she knows that e is hiding something. Suprisingly, the teen- Edward is a bloodthirsty vampire! He keeps reminding her about how she should stay away and that he is dangerous. Still, she keeps speaking with him and is anxious to know what he is hiding. I, as well, am anxious to know about Edward and what his plans are with Bella. Will he fall in love with her or will he just hunger for her blood until he reaches his goal of murder. I guess i will have to keep reading ad find out. Cant Wait =). I would ask you guys that have previously read this fascinating book to let me in on what will happen.. but i think ill enjoy the suspense a bit longer. =D

hmmmhmm

I have continued to read the book Go Ask Alice and it continues to be just as good as the first day. At the moment, Alice is staying away from drugs and is in love with a good young gentleman named Joel, who has just started college. She has had many temptations and people that keep trying to get her to start taking drugs again. There are people that put drugs into her bag. Still, she has stayed strong and has a great support from her parents. They are the only people that support her because she has no friends and everyone is against her just because she is trying to change.

Also, many other things have happened, such as the death of her Gramps and her Gran becoming ill. Also, Alice has become very studious and is starting to think that maybe she really is in love with Joel and they can have a great future together. For the most part, she is enjoying her new life. The only thing that is bothering her are her old friends and peers that keep trying to get her to do drugs and threatning her that they will put drugs in candy and offer it to her younger sister. I find this so sad that people dont get happy for other people that are doing what is right but instead try to convince them to do wrong along with them.

I hope that Alice continues to be strong and does not fall into the temptation because if this does happen she will most likely end up overdosing. Also, she will ruin the possibility of having a relationship with Joel.

TJLC =)

In the story of "The Rice Husband- Lena St. Clair" , Amy Tan describes the mother and daughter realtionship as a deep bond because they both have this strange ability to sense when something is wrong or know in advance before something actually happens. While reading this, i thought about how i have sometimes heard mothers say they have a sixth sense. I believe this is true and mothers know what is wrong and right for you.

Specifically, there is a part in the story in which Lena is eight years old and her mother looks at her bowl of rice and tells her that she will have marry a bad man. Although my mother has never told me something like this, we have talked about when i get older and how she expects him, or imagines him to be. I think this is how every mom is with their daughter- they have certain expectations and hopes for their child.

Whoaa..

The book Go Ask Alice is written in a diary form. So far, this book has been rather interesting and has kept me hooked. It is said to be the real diary of a young 15 year old girl that died from drug addiction. At first, the girl is a calm, studious- yet lonely girl. She has almost no friends and feels as if no one notices her. Then, she is invited to a party and has a drug (LSD) putten into her drink. After this, she begins to try out all sorts of drugs and is hooked. She quicly becomes an addict.

Next, as a result she runs away from home twice and does everything and anything she needs to in order to get the drugs she needs. At one point she was even a pusher- which sells the drugs.

Now, she has promised herself (for the second time) that she will stay away from drugs and try to go back to her normal life. Still, i think that she will only be able to stay without drugs for a short time.. because she alwas talk about how she misses them.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This book has really left me wondering if theyre are really young teens that are addcits and go through the struggles that this girl is facing. I never thought that young people would actually go to drugs for help and not realize that what they are doing is wrong. I just hope that from this book many teens learn tat drugs can only help you escape for a short time- and can later on cause serious consequences such as pregnancy, addiction and even death.

I also think that this book touches very delicate deep points and that if you are reading this book you must be mature and understand that drugs are not what they seem.

I hope that others and I can learn something from this book and pass it on to others.

New Book =)

I have finally finished reading The Lovely Bones. This was a very interesting book and that is why i wanted my next book to be just as good or even better. After finishing my book i thought about what books other people found interesting and reccomended to me- Prep and Go Ask Alice. Then after going to the library and doing a litte bit of research on each book- i decided i would read Go Ask Alice first.

So far, Go ask Alice has been very interesting. She seems to be the smart, lonely type of girl. She has moved to a whole new place and is just getting to know people. It seems as if she is a regular high school girl that is trying to fit in. Still, one issue with her is that she is very concerned about her weight and has a different realtioship with her parents ever since they moved. I also know that she will later on begin to use drugs- which right now i would have never predicted. She does not seem like the type of girl that would get hooked on any kinn dof drug. I predict that when she does begin taking drugs it will be because she wants to seem popular, impress someone or just not kn ow she is taking them.

I look forward to learning more about her character and her life.

Symbolism

Symbolism is seen all around us in different forms and ways. It is the applied use of symbols to represent something. For example i have seen different forms of symbolism in movies, books and images/pictures. One example of symbolism that i have seen was in the movie What Dreams May Come. In this movie the producer used paintings made by a character to descrie how they thought heaven would be for them. Paintigs, in a way was a connection between a widow and her husband that had passed away. This has been one of the most interesting forms of symbolism because it showed how great theyre love was- it was as if they were literally soulmates and would conect with each other even though the other was dead.

Another way that i have seen an example of symbolism was in The Joy Luck Club and teh book i just fiished reading- The Lovely Bones. In TJLC the author Amy used a swan to show hope that the mother had. In the Lovely Bones, on the other hand, the author used a charm braclet that Susie had as well. She had hope that she would be found in some way, that someone would discover how she had died. In bth of these books the use of symbolism was very strong.

Heavenn =)

In the past i have read books about people who say to have gone to heaven and/or hell. Still, i know that everyone has their own imagination and idea of how they expect heaven to be ( if they believe in it). In this specific book the author, seems to make heaven different for everyone in it. She makes it seem like if you really want something in heaven you have it once you think of it. This made me think of how i imagine heaven to be. In the past, i have always tried to imagine how heaven could be- but i know its too beautiful for the human mind to visualize or even think of.

On the other hand, i believe that heaven is not at all as it is described in this book because God wouldn't allow you to suffer. I say this because Susie is still able to see her family and murderer, yet she is not able to speak to them or tell them what really happened, i believe this is suffering. I think that once you die, its over. You are not able to see you're family or do anything on Earth anymore. In fact, I believe that when people say that they have seem ghosts or "Spirits" it is because a demon has taken the physical image of the dead person to haunt people and be an evil disturbance on Earth.

Some other book that can be read about heaven are:

A devine Revelation of Heaven- by: Mary K. Baxter
In Light of Eternity- by: Randy Alcorn
Heaven: My Father's House- by: Anne Graham Lotz
90 Minutes in heaven: A True Story about Life and Death- by:Don Piper

Also, Some books you can read about hell are:

Secret Murderer

The more i continue to read this book about the murder of a young girl named Susie, i realized that every day young, innocent children are kidnapped, raped and sometimes even killed by people who might seem harmless. Every day i continue reading on about Susie's view from heaven and how Mr.Harvey(her murderer)- is convincing everyone that he is an innocent widow, and the mor ei read the more i realize that we never really do know people and we shouldn't trust or confide in people that we are not sure we know a lot about.

So far, not much evidence has been found to know who the murderer is. Yet, i predict that Susie's father is getting more and more suspicious of his neighbor Mr.Harvey due to the fact that he was lying to police about his dead wife.

After reading this amazinginterview about another novel that Alice Sebold had written called The Almost Moon- i noticed that she is an amzing writer that seems to have very unique, creative themes in her novels. For example, in this new book she wrote about a girl who murdered her mother. Although i would like to know where she comes up with these topics- i think she writes great books that captivate the readers attention and gets them thinking.

Lucky Chosen Book

In today's class i revewied several books on amazon.com. In the website i read the plot synopsis and reviews of at least 7 books. Finally, I decided i would read the Lovely Bones by Alicia Sebold. I chose this book because the summary that i read in the website made it seem very interesting. Also, because this book has 384 pages- i calculated that if i read 100 pages a week it will take me approximately 3 weeks and 1/2.

One very interesting fact that i learned was that the author of this book, wrote her first book about an actual experence of rape that she had her freshman year of college.I look forward to my reading experience and learning something from this book.
